Tour Description
The tour starts around 8 o’clock in the morning after you’ve had your breakfast. We’ll start the 2-hour journey out to the mountain and arrive around 10am. As we make the journey, you’ll get to see some of the beautiful countryside and witness the beautiful views as we make our way to the top of the Kulen mountain range.
Waterfalls
We’ll start with the waterfalls and river before it gets too busy. Swimming in the water here is said to bring you good luck and the mountain itself is a very sacred place in Khmer history.
We’ll see two waterfalls. Depending on the time of year, they will vary in size. The first one is around 25m wide and 5m tall in the rainy season. The second waterfall is nearly three times taller at 15m but not as wide. The waterfalls are beautiful all year round, but there is a lot more water here during the rainy season.
There are some local restaurants here where we can stop for lunch.
River of a Thousand Lingas
Here, you can see some very intricate carvings in the river bed. The lingas represent the phallic symbol of the Hindu god, Shiva. There are also carvings of animals and the other Hindu gods. You can walk through the forest along the river to explore.
Reclining Buddha
Finally, we’ll visit Preah Ang Thom temple where you can walk up to see a 16th century Buddha statue which was carved out of a natural sandstone. It’s the biggest reclining Buddha in Cambodia and many locals and tourists visit each day.
